Tiro.health raises 1 Million to reduce administrative burden of doctors and accelerate the transition to value-based healthcare
Tiro.health, the Ghent-based startup developing software for healthcare professionals announced today that it has successfully completed a capital round of €1 million led by venture studio and fund Miles Ahead, joined by other investors such as Imec.istart and business angel Lorenz Bogaert.
Enabling healthcare professionals to focus on delivering exceptional patient care
Tiro.health provides medical professionals with an intelligent assistant that connects to existing electronic health record platforms and generates accurate and structured patient information. Where doctors used to have to start from a blank page, there are now templates and suggestions that simplify their work. The doctor saves time, and it becomes easier to achieve value-based healthcare. In addition to an improved workflow, the solution provides better data quality and cost and efficiency gains.
My journey began in the world of medicine, specializing in prostate cancer research. It was during this time that I encountered the real challenges clinicians face in managing data and administrative tasks, igniting my passion for changing this situation. Our aim as a company is to enable healthcare professionals to focus on delivering exceptional patient care.
Says Andries Clinckaert, CEO and co-founder.
Improve diagnostic precision, minimize errors and save costs
The adoption of structured reporting will revolutionize the medical field by improving diagnostic precision and minimizing errors. It enhances operational efficiency and communication, facilitating quicker and more accurate medical decisions. For instance, structured reporting templates have been shown to significantly enhance the sensitivity of prostate MRI for detecting clinically significant prostate cancer, increasing its accuracy from 53% to 70%. Structured reporting also offers substantial time savings, especially in high-demand specialties like cardiology and radiology. For instance, implementing structured reporting in radiology has been shown to save up to 8.5 hours per radiologist per month, equivalent to over 100 hours annually.
Technology breakthroughs in AI offer a unique opportunity to tailor workflows and automate administration in very specialized domains such as medicine especially when integrated within the current systems doctors use. That is why we have a strong focus on fast implementations with pre-defined templates and out-of-the-box integration with existing systems.
Says Axel Vanraes, CTO and co-founder of Tiro.health.
Investing in the customer base and international expansion
Eight Belgian hospitals are already working with Tiro.health. “At Maria Middelares Tiro.health proved to be a reliable partner for the hospital's data strategy which led to the decision to deploy the solution in all departments”, says dr. Eric Germonpré, cardiologist and Medical Information Officer at Maria Middelares. Tiro.health plans to quickly expand their customer base over different hospitals and specializations. But healthcare data standardization is also a worldwide challenge where the goal is to arrive at a common language in terms of both terminology and data models across the globe.
“We have invested in Tiro.health because we believe in the international potential of the company and will support the team in their international business expansion, starting in our neighbouring countries. This is a worldwide challenge for the medical profession where Tiro.health has developed an innovative and unique solution.”
Says Wim De Waele, founding partner of Miles Ahead.
